| We remodeled a typical brick house from the early 1970īs on a limited budget. The remodeling consisted of several interventions in the home, turning it inside out. The concept was to create two solid bars on either side of the home with a void cutting through the middle. The uses were flip-flopped from north to south with a continuous transparent space from street side to garden side. The windows in the living room were enlarged, and an industrial sliding door system was used to open the panels that act as doors. When opened, they allow the flow of inside to outside creating grey areas of in-between. Fireplaces, a curving wood roof with clerestory, as well as a wall unit that serves as divider, all contributed to make the home a unique, bright environment for a young family to share, grow and enjoy.
